I dedicate to Thee, O Lord, at first
All thoughts, all words, all deeds,
As surely they bring a happy, glorious and immortal state.
I shall always cling to truth and virtue
And Thy glory sing in fitting terms
I'll eliminate all selfish and greedy thoughts
And consecrate to Thee whatever I hold
All get from Thee rewards and boons untold
Who works boldly as Thy servant.
Enlighten us through Thy fire - brightly divine,
Which by its powerful and radiant light
Gives us true knowledge which we desire
Its never failing strength all evil stays
Driving out ignoble thoughts and passions base.
It soon subdues all malice, revenge or pride
And lights the way for God-fearing men
On earth there is no better guide to choose
For its heavenly beams all wicked schemes confuse.
'What is Thy sovereign will' tell me O Lord,
So that my actions to it I suit
And fulfil my destined task competently
I'll help the poor, protect your creations
And by my faithful service gain the fruit
By Thee decided - for those who obey Thee,
Without the slightest doubt, demur or dispute.
All deceivers I will drive away
And to Thee in the best and highest way I'll pray.
Thou art all Truth and Righteousness combined
Instruct me how best to conduct my tasks
To serve Thee as I should instruct my mind
Thy guidance safe I ask for all my life,
I securely bask in Thy presence bright
Never to stray from virtue's path
All lies and shame unmask - I'll further Truth
I greatly need Thy help at every turn
And with Thy support always I shall succeed.
My disciples and I shall work for Thee
To spread Thy name throughout the world
To free mankind from superstition and
Thy supremacy proclaim.
Explain Thy glorious fame and boundless power
And strive with honest zeal for good of all
So that a golden age may soon arrive
And the world in lasting peace will thrive.
Those who God deny and corrupt the truth
They spread destruction on this earth,
Only the weak minds accept their silly cry
For they cannot judge what their opinion's worth,
And of wit and sense - they have a dearth.
These tempters know their foolish victims well
As skilled in these wiles they are from birth.
They glibly tell all kinds of lies -
Their spurious wares to slily sell.
Truth flies far from evil souls
Just like wild beasts run away from man
Truth will not in their wicked presence stay
Because their impure hearts are full of lies.
The deceivers take the place of God in their lives
In hell they will forever repent their deeds
Which will be filled with their unheard cries,
How long their pains will last - no one can tell
For their rebellion - befell on them a just return.
A godly man only advises actions good and clean
He knows that pious men prompt pious deeds,
He tries to wean all men from vicious thoughts,
Wherever his lot is cast - he sows good seeds.
From smiling fields of corn - roots out the weeds,
A happy prosperous world he wants to see
No recompense he needs - he works for love.
Such noble souls from selfish motives free
To obey God's high decree with a faith sincere.
The angels stand ready to help such men,
They improve - they give them strength and knowledge
They smooth and guard their way in every land
And all dangers and all obstacles remove
Through guides and champions prove at every step
Wherever they go - their minds are free from care
Wherever they go - they spread Thy hold word
All opposition they will bravely bear
All heavenly legions to their aid repair.
Teach me your rules, Thy proper worship teach
How best Thy praises I may sing
Thy illustrious presence how may I reach
And how may I, my humble homage pay
So that your lasting favour I may find
And with Thy grace succeed in everything
I may do to guide with faith the human mind.
To trust in Thee, O Lord, most merciful and kind.
Explain to me the path I should pursue -
How to regulate my conduct do tell me,
I shall be staunch and true to your commands
And concentrate my mind and power
So that I obtain that happy state -
That you have promised those who Thee obey
And who themselves promise entirely
To serve your lasting glory, work and pray.
For those who defend your rule in this revolving world
They share a part of your wisdom and
Against all evil their forces contend
To spread Thy wholesome Laws - they do declare
To never despair in their difficult task
I too stand amongst their holy ranks
I'll do and dare whatever I can for Thee
My mission grand I'll fulfil with zeal
Supported by Thy bright and angelic band.
All thoughts, all words, all deeds,
As surely they bring a happy, glorious and immortal state.
