FOREWORD

In writing this I do not claim to be a scholar of any sort whatsoever. It is merely my desire to share God and his goodness with my fellow brethren . I am acutely aware that this knowledge should not remain the preserve of a few! or be lost forever due to disuse…… so I am taking it upon myself to try and do justice to translations of the Gathas undertaken by others. I wish that all those who seek this knowledge – be able to find it in the language of our present times, i.e. English. The Gathas are the words of Zarathushtra and thus were in the language spoken in those times. It behoves all generations to keep them alive and available to all - to further themselves as they may choose. It is only the language that may be archaic, the knowledge contained therein  is in fact as relevant today,  as it was way back then, for we know for certain that all major religions that followed Zoroastrianism borrowed heavily from it.

MY OWN VIEWS ON RELIGION

Being of a slightly religious bent of mind my curiosity was aroused to know more about the creator of our world for after all he did create me in his own likeness and I liked myself and liked the world we lived in and everything in it so it stood to reason that the intelligence that created so much beauty must be beauty personified.
I am also amazed at God's capacity to forgive us ... I know I err on several occasions but I have not found him judging me or punishing me in any way. On the contrary I find I am punishing myself only when I am naughty or crabbity for that is how God's laws have been made.
When I first started writing the gathas I found them a bit intimidating but I guess a little discipline does no harm to anybody but rather the strictness tells you that yes life must have some rules to prevent things from escalating out of control and yes "fear" in small doses is necessary for all of us. If we did not "fear" the consequences of a bad act we'd be committing them left and right and that can't be good for anyone.. can it ?
I also learnt the true meaning of the word "tolerance" for that is sadly missing in our world today.I was brought up with very fundamental values and I do think that that is ok provided you give another the space to be what they want to be without judging them. Everybody thinks they are  "special people" and you know what I think they are all right ... that in my dictionary makes everybody special .. so then why fight with another ... doesn't my philosophy make sense to you.
I think it is time that people looked on religion with the simplicity with which it was designed and not the rituals that we have filled it up with ... the endless dos and don'ts according to which we keep distancing ourselves further and further from God .. we place him in a religious institution, a picture frame but the place he needs to be most is in your thoughts 24/7 .. and by that I mean live a goodly life using the guidelines given. Then you are in the correct vibrationary mode to receive his guidance and he will talk to you and help you prosper as well as protect you.
