YASNA 28
In deep respect I lift my hands on high,
And for truthful words and deeds, at first I pray,
For virtuous thoughts of friendly peace and love,
That with Mighty Mazda’s help I may
Help all living souls from sad decay.
With a pure and pious mind, Oh All-knowing Lord….
For thy presence to reach….Thy will to obey
So that through Truth ….. I soon will find
Everlasting bliss and Ahura’s mercy kind.
I’ll sing of Thee, O Mazda…Great and Good,
The first to exist and Creator of all,
Upon Thy wise laws I’ll forever contemplate
Their truths will surely save me from a fall.
To Thee I call to guide me in my life
Teach me the Truths that lead to paradise.
Let my mind entertain no wicked thought
Guide me holy Mazda, wise and just
Illuminate my mind and heart,
To knowledge of you that it sought.
And with knowledge of blessing deeds that
Please Thee Almighty God…..
With pious mind I’ll equip my soul
for everlasting peace…..
Strength and power in me I’ll find
And myself obliged to teach the Truth to all ..
I’ll spare no pains and strive with might
To spread Thy name…I’ll reject all ease
To hear Thy Angel Sraosh’s holy strains
I’ll gladly sacrifice all worldly gains.
Supremely Wise, show me Thy Blessed abode,
Teach me Thy sacred word, that ever holds,
That I may spread Thy moral code.
And spread Thy glorious name throughout all lands
To stop the evil of all wicked hands….
By eloquence of tongue by Thee inspired
Enable me to preach Thy wise commands….
That men be fired with a sense of duty
To attain a goal of a world turned happy.
O Bounteous Lord ! grant me the pleasure
That flows from a mind virtuous and pure
Grant me long life to work on this mission
To cherish Truth always and banish falsehood.
Show the Righteous path to each and all
Through Thy worthy champions Frashaoshtra, Gushtasp.
On them your boundless blessings freely bestow
Grant them health and strength of mind
Inspire them with zeal and faith so staunch.
O Supreme Lord ! You are our greatest friend
With fervent heart and perfect faith we pray
That Thy support you will always lend
To us, Thy humble devotees, in times of doubt
Or fear or dismay.
We Thy humble devotees worship Thee
As best we may – You are the only Master we know….
And so we bow, we bend, and we cry to Thee alone
Grant us hearts so pure no evil may entrance find
We’ll never go against Thy will
Whatever we face … cling to virtue still
We’ll always stand for good and fight with ill
Your word will always light and lead
Let hope and joy our tasks complete
Refuse us not, O Lord, Thy presence bright
Instruct us on what’s wrong and right.
You are our trusted champion for support
As from sinful acts we flee
No force, no fraud, we like it not
Our characters are free from blot
We mean to do Thy will with honest care
Tell us what is your Wish and what is not
Creator of our world ! please do declare…
Why you made this world and put us there
For we fully place our faith in Thee !
